Partnering with Nokero Solar Lanterns
By upgrading your home to solar, you help us “spread the sunshine” to 5 families in the developing world (…and this is just the beginning). Through our unique, decentralized model, those 5 families mushroom to dozens, hundreds, or even thousands. Get “the best value in solar”…and the warm fuzzies as an added bonus.
Watch the two minute video of our impact together:
CREW knows that “freebies” don’t work. These proud, hardworking people already spend a lot of money on dirty light through the use of kerosene. It is the little bit every day to turn away from dirty energy sources that counts.
CREW covers the upfront cost of each Nokero (no kerosene) lantern. The families make a small deposit they can afford. They pay the same amount per week they paid in the past for kerosene to pay off the loan for the lantern. The payments will come through their mobile phone so it is simple and automatic.
In the same way that your economic future became brighter with solar, so will theirs — and you made it happen.
It has changed my life in a good way. There is no more smoke from the gas lamp which used to be bad for my health and stained my clothes. — Survey Respondent
In a few months, the solar light is paid for and they can now put the money they were spending on kerosene toward improving their lives in other ways. They earned their light. We believe in solar ownership. CREW then “recycles” that money and buys more lights for more families.

Sunlight at Night Program
The initial 5 families you helped now grows to 10 families with clean, renewable “sunlight at night” — all because of your choice to “spread sunshine.” By “recycling” the money generated from the model, we can help more families. We are all in this together.
If the rest of the world follows our destructive path of fossil fuels, we could all be fossils. When people experience solar, it lights up their world (and saves them money). Your choice could “light up” a young mind and spark the next big innovation.
Partnering with Nokero
Our partnership with Nokero provides long lasting, clean, renewable solar lanterns for people working hard to escape the poverty trap of dirty power.
Another world is not only possible, she is on her way. On a quiet day, I can hear her breathing. — Arundhati Roy
Did you know that kerosene is the second highest expense for many families around the world — right behind food?
Not only does it pollute our planet, but it darkens their economic future. The upfront cost for a solar lantern is a barrier – even though it would save them money over time…and improve their lives.
A survey of 102 rural Haitians who tested solar lights already proves the benefits:
- 96% reported reduced use of kerosene
- 90% reported decline in breathing problems and eye irritation
- 30% reported higher productivity in the evening
- 94% reported school children’s grades improved
